Polaroid Lookalikes EN

Photos can sometimes have an enormous amount of charm and still be seen as 'not quite right'. This often has to do with a kind of contrast the viewer is not used to. Strangely enough, this problem does not occur with Polaroid photos. In those cases, this deviation is simply accepted.

When I was still working as an advertising photographer, I worked with Polaroids of 4x5 inch format on a daily basis. Polaroid 59 for color shots, Polaroid 55 for black and white. Both had a contrast deviation compared to the final material (Kodak Ektachrome slide film) that was used.

But the photo on Polaroid material was often more beautiful than the endresult. The polaroid often lacked real sharpness and the contrast was lower with Polaroids in color, and higher with Polaroids in black and white. I made a selection of photos that are reminiscent of the old Polaroid photos and I placed them in a Polaroid frame. So they are not real Polaroids but photos that pretend to be Polaroids: Polaroid Lookalikes.
